First floor completed

For the first day in seven there was no rain and progress speeded up and the house begins to adopt its final shape. 

Some pleasant surprises with oak beams and a very 'ecclesiastical' window in the main bedroom . . . 

. . . and a vaulted roof in the downstairs bedroom.  

I guess we should have expected these had we studied the plans more carefully.

We will need to carefully mark up the locations of the vertical studs so that helical ties for the brickwork can be correctly located after the studs are hidden by the hemcrete wall.
