With a good chance of rain this week we decided this was the
time to get some of the oak windows and the large steel lintel into place.
The oak frames went up without a hitch but the huge steel
which supports the brickwork over the living room window required considerable
ingenuity – most of which came from Paul who joined the team this morning.
Once at first floor level the steel was slowly levered and
rolled into position with a final lift from the Merlo taking the weight whilst
the whole team manhandled (perhaps I should say person-handled) it into
place.
A second large lintel arrives
later this week so the East brick wall can be completed.
