Some of the oak frames proved too large or too difficult to
put in place for the Merlo telehandler so on Monday Gary Hill from Vic Haines
Transport arrived with his crane to help out. First the large front dormer was lifted quickly into place
within minutes – completing installation of the three dormer windows.
The prime task this morning was to position the large south facing oak window in place in the main bedroom. Will carefully
collected the frame from the barn and Gary prepared the two slings which would
carry the frame right over the roof of the house.
The combination of experience and expertise coupled with a
great sense of humour soon swung the huge window into position just cms from its
final resting place where it was manually located and strapped in place.
An even larger oak frame weighing well over a tonne has yet
to be installed as well as the equally heavy frames for the conservatory, but these
will have to wait until we have finished with the scaffolding.
